Paul Dini's wife Misty Lee is a magician...she's like a real life Zatanna. I was surprised that the Greg Horn cover (also at the Top Cow table) was the more toned down version.

That said, I liked the vigilante/illusionist storyline.RedheadFangirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03130452058774732168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-24372214973483603702007-06-16T18:56:00.000-07:002007-06-16T18:56:00.000-07:00Yep, definitely gratuitous. Your comment about the boobs being "buffed" and "shined" pretty much says it. God forbid my fellow customers think I am buying it for the boobs! :-)

I was planning to pick it up because I am a fan of Paul Dini's writing, and I think the concept is great. It is sad that a cover designed to attract a certain demographic can also chase another away.Heidi Meeleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01436991028382498324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-80055028695338859762007-06-14T21:49:00.000-07:002007-06-14T21:49:00.000-07:00I have to tell you that after a full day's reflect...I have to tell you that after a full day's reflection, I still can't get over the boobs. This is definitely gratuitous.

Eaglewing- I like your idea of further research. :-)

Swinebread- she is supposedly patterned after Misty Lee who is Paul Dini's wife and a magician in her own right.

Mark, you said it for real!Heidi Meeleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01436991028382498324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-28858532639180840532007-06-14T16:18:00.000-07:002007-06-14T16:18:00.000-07:00Welp, at my shop, they put the poster on the free ...Welp, at my shop, they put the poster on the free shelf by the door, since of course Marvel and DC are the only ones to go up. I snagged it since I didn't want to see it trashed and like Paul Dini a lot. Looking at the poster (which I just did) it's not really the size I would say, it's the high sheen and glow of "Das Bosoms", like someone took a buffer to them. I couldn't find a copy at my shop, so either I missed it or it sold out. And you know, the fact we are adults buying "children's" items, comics has a stigma according to some narrow-minded adults. I am not ashamed of buying anything, matter o'fact I love to point out the Tim Virgil books I buy with all the sexy women and devils carrying on. Shameless, yes, that is my middle name...Carlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06642758191046222448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-88782641560965486472007-06-14T13:37:00.000-07:002007-06-14T13:37:00.000-07:00Well, how else will they get the average comic boo...Well, how else will they get the average comic book buyer (male) to pick up a non-superhero comic? It doesn't matter what's on the inside, as long as it's got boobs on the cover. Meanwhile women like Jenny are being scared off by what is probably a good comic book.

All I know is that if your breasts become larger than your head (as picture) you should probably see a doctor for a reduction before you end up with a slipped disk or crushed vertibre.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06656871719685145723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-83050945743607238722007-06-14T11:38:00.000-07:002007-06-14T11:38:00.000-07:00Definitely gratuitous and perhaps a bit unfortunat...Definitely gratuitous and perhaps a bit unfortunate... I was actually interested in this series when I saw the initial preview art (I love the hat and the noir-ish feel to it...) But I'd be a little embarrassed to purchase a comic with a cover featuring, erm, features that large and exposed.

Nothing against boobs, but those are a bit excessive.Jenny J.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16831139072973098562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-80203640989381105962007-06-14T10:37:00.000-07:002007-06-14T10:37:00.000-07:00Gratuitous.MIght as well plaster a burst with the ...Gratuitous.

MIght as well plaster a burst with the words "BOOBS!" on the cover.

They really do think we're all a bunch of mindless horndogs, don't they?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-33462432491890692612007-06-14T07:38:00.000-07:002007-06-14T07:38:00.000-07:00Those are some big Boobs...
