I guess I am a little disapointed to not see Kyle Rayner with Donna as they had since rekindled a friendship during Ion. Maybe later?

New Avengers= big hunk of crap. I am crossing my fingers it doesn't hurt the retailers too badly and that there is actually a payoff from this issue down the road. I appreciate your perspective to be sure.Heidi Meeleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01436991028382498324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-71385838440780129812007-06-16T07:00:00.000-07:002007-06-16T07:00:00.000-07:00I guess we're supposed to think of this reveal mor...I guess we're supposed to think of this reveal more like one we'd get in the TV show "Lost." Where it might not seem big now, and we're just left going "hu?" but then later we'll find out that it actually IS something important and that there is a lot more to it.

And... remember they brought Captain Marvel back to life, and he's a Kree, lifelong enemies of the Skrull. We havn't seen much with Marvel since they brought him back, and he knows he's going to die of cancer anyway, so he's got nothing to loose.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06656871719685145723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-59307088938154981692007-06-15T17:55:00.000-07:002007-06-15T17:55:00.000-07:00I read New Avengers and when I got to the last pag...I read New Avengers and when I got to the last page I went "Huh?" This was the big surprise. Though I am glad it wasn't shown that some evil mastermind was behind everything that's been going on lately in the Marvel U. Reading an interview with Bendis I do kind of like the idea he has here, that skrulls could be any hero and that there are some out there that we will be surprised by. I guess it depends on how they handle it, but I don't think this was the big even they promised.John Hollandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11714537622409205603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-26168914372037818492007-06-15T11:25:00.000-07:002007-06-15T11:25:00.000-07:00I don't want to be Judge Mental butttttttttt the b...I don't want to be Judge Mental butttttttttt the biggest shocker of that post was that you were still reading one of the worst rebooting of a classic comics of time. The New Avengers is New Coke. The Star Wars Prequels. Star Trek: Enterprise. Anything pretending to be a Jonny Quest show after 1968. It's pretending there is no difference between the brilliant Saturday Night Live of the '70s and the zombie show of 2007 that no one watches. I wouldn't read it unless forced at gunpoint, thankyouverymuch...

And while I've read WW III and Countdown, I've found them very bewildering since I couldn't afford to keep up with 52 and lots of books. As a long time DC fan, I simply don't know who a lot of the characters are and what the hell is going on. Anyone want to put a faq on this? Would be nice. And the whole world war with Black Adam? Jeez, who's in charge here? No one? There's a lot of the DC Universe that used to laugh at this guy and could beat him in half a book or less.
And I have to admit, I'm pretty crisis'd out. I'm tired of the two main comic universes in pretty much total chaos all the time now. Wouldn't it be nice to pick up a comic with a well-known, familiar and beloved superhero and enjoy a story that's just *about them*? Like Batman or Green Arrow or Spider-man helping people?! Man, what a strange concept...
And I have slowly but surely getting Manhunter back issues. I suppose I should have waited for the collected but at 50 cents at cons, a bit too tempting.
Welp, we are gone on a working vacation to Washington D.C. boobye for now!Carlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06642758191046222448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-18305706845441472352007-06-15T08:29:00.000-07:002007-06-15T08:29:00.000-07:00come on, drop Avengers... It's just on...Calm down, Manhunter is coming back. It's just on a few months' hiatus right now. I know the inker can't wait to get back to work on it. :)

I actually think you and a lot of other politically-inclined feminist comics readers are going to like Manhunter MORE when it comes back than you even have so far. But of course I'm not at liberty to elaborate.Elaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15009119466346396986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7747146.post-4393223780158987012007-06-15T07:02:00.000-07:002007-06-15T07:02:00.000-07:00Don't even get me started on the New Avengers thin...Don't even get me started on the New Avengers thing. Now, Marvel's people DID say it wasn't Cap 25 big - but they did claim it was big. Maybe even Civil War 1 big - so thats how much we ordered. Now that everyone is all up in arms with Marvel about not living up to the hype, they're claiming that as time goes on the events at the end of the issue WILL become more and more relevant. So, I guess if I hold onto it for a year, maybe someone will care about it. At my store it sold well, but only as well as usual, not any better. I think had the news after the issue came out been "yeah, this IS HUGE" then we'd be getting more people coming in for it, but instead people read it and said, like you, "I'm disapointed. It was nothing." So no one else who wouldn't pick it up is going to seek it out now.

One thing to note - Marvel is working on Daredevil #100 and getting all of the comic's greats to contribute to the issue. In the last press release they said there was still one creator they were trying to get - and Miller was the only creator not listed as already signed on to contribute. So, maybe this is their way of showing Miller that they DIDN'T really undo his killing of Elektra after all. A kiss and make up move that they hyped and pushed so it would have good sales numbers and they could convince Miller to do something for DD 100.

As for Donna and Jason - both were dead and now alive. Could it be due to the multiple earths? I'm thinking the pairing is all due to the fact that they're alive and shouldn't be.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06656871719685145723noreply@blogger.com
