Great Hera! Wonder Woman #5 Might Come Out... Eventually

Wonder Woman #5

I am a bit behind in reading February's DC Comics solicitations, but I of course noticed that Wonder Woman #5 is finally being given a shipping date. While I am very happy about this, I am also very skeptical. The bets are still on, as I originally posted.

Here is the facts, man:

Wonder Woman #5
Written by Allan Heinberg
Art and cover by Terry & Rachel Dodson
Concluding the 5-part story "Who is Wonder Woman?" The combined forces of Wonder Woman's transformed rogues gallery declare all-out war on the amazing Amazon, compelling the all-new Wonder Woman to mend fences and join forces with her predecessor and with Wonder Girl if she's going to survive to finally answer the question: "Who Is Wonder Woman?"
On sale February 14 o 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

According to Diamond Comics' shipping list, Wonder Woman #3 is supposed to ship next Wednesday. I will believe it when I see it.

By the way, I e-mailed DC Comics as originally planned and never heard back. Did anyone else get a reply?

I too am skeptical on this. I am quite angry with DC on this comic book - it was a slow seller until they had Diana play a major role in the Crisis. Then people got interested - we went from selling 3 copies to 15 copies. Even the first issue of the new run sold quite well, but the longer they go between issues the more people loose interest and pick up other series instead. This could be so good, but DC has to go and kill it.

I have it on good authority that some of the larger, multiple store comic book owners have continued to complain to the heads of DC, insisting that they fix these lateness issues. They claim they're working on it, saying that if talent can't get a book done they'll put someone else on it - kind of like what's happening with Batman/Grant Morrison and like what they did at the end of Infinite Crisis.

Hopefully the team for Wonder Woman that's starting with issue #6 will have them all done by the time we see the solicitation so it gets back on track!

Lisa, you are absolutely right when you say that DC lost momentum. At my local shop, the first issue sold out that day. Issue 2 got more of a "whatever" response, and sat.

Hopefully DC is listening to the retailers, and is working to rectify this problem. They sure ignored me!

I am also hoping that the next creative team has all the issues in the can when #6 is ready to debut, so that this mess doesn't happen all over again!

Thank you!

I sent regular snailmail, only ended up asking about more than just an on-time book. I got a reply promising more collections soon, nothing about the regular series.

Ragnell- that is interesting. So they were simply evasive?

I am glad that you wrote as well.
