Birthday Fun!

What a weekend! First we went and experienced Harry Potter madness with the rest of the world and then we did yard work.

Yep. Yard Work.

Phase two of my birthday weekend was that my good friend Kerry came over and we pruned all our bushes and trees and took two loads to the dump. We ended up shoveling up all the leaf and needle debris as well. I am so pleased with how our yard looks now!

Yesterday afternoon after my workout, Jim and I went grocery shopping and I stayed up until after midnight reading Harry Potter. Got it done- loved it! I am waiting a good week or so before posting anything with spoilers so I will just say that I have a lot of mixed emotions about the last book, most of them positive. It is hard to say goodbye to such a beloved franchise, as I am more of a book fan then a movie one.

Last night at midnight Jim gave me my birthday present. It is pictured here. It is a custom pin-up by Darryl Banks of Wonder Woman bringing me a birthday cake. I cried like crazy when I saw it. It is amazing. How lucky am I?

Today is my birthday and it is kind of lowkey, which is just how I want it. We are going to go eat some late birthday lunch and then I am going to come home and talk to my parents and sis. It is a good day.

Many thanks to my wonderful friends Kirk and Pamela for the awesome metal presents! I am still a bit overwhelmed with them, as it is JUST what I wanted. They bought me the KIX- Blow My Fuse CD and the Dokken- Unchain the Night DVD which is my absolute FAVORITE metal video of all time. I love you guys!!

Thank you to everyone for all the nice birthday greetings as well. I feel very spoiled and loved for a 41 year old. Have a great day!

Happy Birthday! Sweet pin-up - was there real cake too? :)

Glad you got through the final Potter without spoilers and enjoyed it. I'm not a fan, but I was surprised at the abundant spoilers available, even in mainstream media. Was kind of like the Captain America death given away by Yahoo and CNN before the comic was out. They must be desperate for "news". Either way, it's nice to see bookstores full and kids still wanting to read.

Heidi: Happy Birthday! What an insanely cool gift!

Jim: Ya done good, my friend. Take a bow.

Geez...and you're a metal-head to boot, Heidi? Dang...I'll have to party with you two some time. Though my thoroughly nerdy (fellow) 41 year-old exterior would never convey it, I also like me some heavy metal now and again (though I prefer the 70's and 80's vintage).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEIDI!

That sketch is GREAT! It even has your name on it. You'll have to get it framed.

Thank you all so much for being so kind! I had a wonderful day, and reading your comments tonight made me feel so good!

Hubby framed the pin-up and I am looking at it right now. It is fantastic! He put a lot of thought and effort into it, and I am still very touched. The personalized cake was just the topper.

Thank you all again for being so kind! I am in awe.
