The final issue of The Thing will be #8, which is scheduled to ship in June. Manhunter's curtain call will be issue #25, which is scheduled to ship in July.

What the heck is going on here, People? A great book like Manhunter gets the axe while totally crappy books get to stay (think of certain X-books and other series of note). My faith in my fellow fans is devastated- at least for the rest of the day.

Now I will never know what heights of greatness both books may have scaled. I was especially excited at the future of the Manhunter title, so this is particularly irritating. I just got my hubby reading and enjoying it though, so I guess that is par for the course.

Any other mourners care to join me? Cocktails are being served at 7 p.m. sharp!

ABC cancelled Invasion, too, so I'm doubly bummed. I lose favs in 2 media.

I missed the boat on Manhunter, have bought an issue liked it despite it being like 10 in the run. Shame.
I really like Dan Slott's The Thing- where else does Spidey get called out on that awful Iron Spider outfit with three arms, except in The Thing? (and blogs!)

I am still in mourning about these cancellations. Between knowing that I have to wait until this Fall for a new episode of The Office and this, I am at a cultural wasteland lost!

Invasion getting cancelled is yet another dagger next to the heart as well, Shelly.

Redlib- loved the comment about blogs- too true!

Son of a @#$%&!!! And you want to talk some high, high irony? My dealer was gushing on how good it was, like months after I recommended it. I said, welp, enjoy it now, it's cancelled...

Manhunter that is, duhhhhh...

Carl, I did the same thing. I kept recommending Manhunter, but no one took the bait. Now my local comic shop orders only one copy, and it is a special order for me.

How much does that suck?

Anyway, I am still very saddened. Manhunter and The Thing are two great books that deserved a look.

Welp, I've gotten to the point where not much affects me anymore. I will get an intial burst of anger and then it's numb acceptance of how the comic PTB screw us over and over and over.
And like I said, I read the first issue in the preview books the dealers sent out, raved over it and got a collective yawn. Then last Wednesday my dealer was going on and on about Manhunter, how good it was and that's when I told him it was kaput. And they usually only have like maybe 5 or so copies. And I read The Thing now and again and it was a great book too. Oh, I did hear a good rumor about Invasion though, now that there's the "CW" network evolving, they may pick it up for a season 2. Time will tell...

I've gotten a bit inured to losing favs, too, but it still hurts sometimes, because I let down my guard and let myself REALLY like something. I've had favorite restaurants close! I feel like a jinx at times.

Shelly, I agree. My hubby and I had this Chinese restaurant we loved, and it closed down very suddenly. It was so depressing because it was unique. Another one we liked just closed about six months ago. We are starting to wonder if we jinx the places we go to!!

Interesting info, Carl. We shall see how this plays out.

My retailer won't take chances at all. I like the store I go to, but they carry so many other items that comics aren't the focus.

Oh well, all good things must come to an end...
