This morning before I started work, I did my usual round of surfing the internet. I went to all the usual sites and blogs and did a little "wake up" reading. Much to my dismay, there was a post that made minor reference to my initial opinions on Amazons Attack #6. There was really nothing to get upset about other then the fact that I knew my post was one of the ones being referred to and the fact that it wasn't very complimentary. My reaction was to get upset and feel hurt rather then shrug it off.
This makes me very ashamed. I am better than that.
BUT it also made me think.
I have spent the last week very uncharacteristically wallowing in the mud. I have been crabby, moody, and pissy in general. It isn't me. I have allowed events in my personal life and the constant lateness of our books to finally push me over the edge.
No more.
Think what you will of me, but I will not allow external events to shape me. If you don't agree with me, great. That is the first amendment right that I appreciate so much. I don't want to take away from it. Seeing someone else note my lows and use them to their advantage was a wake up call. I need to get back to basics and focus on the positive. That is who I am. I am not a person that needs to always find the negative. I appreciate quality and I like to have fun. This last week I have not been true to myself.
That doesn't mean that I will pander to others because I want everyone to like me. On the contrary, I invite differing opinions and like to discuss them here where I feel it is a safe environment. It just means I need to be true to myself.
I'm back, Baby.

Glad you're back and that you're feeling better about things. I've been meaning to write a long post to you about what's good in comics but just haven't had time to get around to it. The bad comics will always be there, but there's always some good ones out there too. Sorry I haven't said too much lately, things are still kinda crazy around here.
Hmmmmm, I have to say, those Kool-Aid drinking chimps can all take a kiss at my big hairy ***. I could tell Amazons Attack was just clumped-together crap that made no sense when I read the first issue. Hang around for six hoping it would get better?! I've already shelled out $3 bucks for this bogus "event" and so I should flush $15 more?! What the hell ever happened to actually wanting something good to read rather then put up with the endless crap being pushed at us? How come Hollywood is suffering the worst decade in forever? Why are TV shows being canceled after one episode? Yes, there's some good books going on as I have said before, but as one of my friends put it, where's your company/writer/artist, etc. loyalty?! (This was after I quit Marvel over Cap) I said it's called growing up and not being a slave to what you've always bought, JUST CAUSE!!! I know something good when I see it, V For Vendetta, The Watchmen, The Morrison JLA, Neal Adams or Marshal Rogers Batman or Miller's Dark Knight Returns or Manhunter original and current or Peter David's Fallen Angel, but don't tell me Amazons Attack or any of these other over-hyped quantity, gimmicks, stunt 'events' and gratuitous deaths and phony out-of-character acts to generate sales over great story-telling and real superhero drama are worthy in the same breath. Better a true truthful critic and be angry and unhappy then be a sucker like all the other Kool-Aid chimps out there...
There ya go :) Everyone can get out of sorts about the negative stuff now and then, but life's too short to focus on it. Glad you're back and hope you find more books you enjoy.
Hey, we all go through ups and downs...I certainly don't expect a constantly positive attitude from anyone, much less someone who takes the time to share their feelings and thoughts on their blog.
You're doing fine, Heidi. I'm glad you feel you're turned a corner, but at the same time, I don't feel like you've let us down in any way. You're being yourself, and you're being real...which is what I like so much about visiting your blog.
That’s too bad. I was really staring to enjoy the Heidi from Earth 3.
Could she come back once in awhile?
you just need to post a weekly metal video. In no time you'll be happy as a lark.
John, bless you my friend. You take care of yourself, and I will keep checking on you at your site. Thank you for being so sweet!
Carl, you are uniquely awesome. There is no one like you. Never, ever change!!
Eaglewing, thank you. It has been fun reading through old issues of stuff rather then focusing on all the stuff that just make me mad. Life is better for sure.
Mark, thank you so much for the compliment! I am trying to keep my reality together and be true to myself. Yikes.
Swinebread, I am sure I will bring Heidi from Earth-3 out again, even though I am trying not to. :-)
Lisa, that reminds me! I have to do that. Thank you!
