Well Gang, tonight we are exploring a small press book as our next candidate for gratuitous glory. This book is one I hadn't heard of previously, but the title along intrigued me. "Archaic" is a word I use way too frequently for comfort, so I felt like it was meant to be.
The first thing about this cover that catches my eye is the tongue-in-cheek pose, complete with astounding rack. It is another classic girl with a gun scenario being played out. The good news is that I couldn't see her underwear. Kudos to artist Brett C. Marting for that. The bad news is that I believe that the nature of the cover is completely intentional. That usually translates into book sales, and I try and go a bit easier on the small press guys because they are fighting a bigger uphill battle then the "big two".

Nice.
That doesn't mean that this isn't over the top. Hmmm... I am pleased that she is winking more then showing a porn face, so that really makes it tough for me. This cover really is a bit of a gray area.
That is why I need your input.

Tough call. The gun is clearly doubling as an extended middle finger, though...so credit for a semi-clever optical illusion.
Hmm... She's definitely a bit top-heavy, but she's got attitude and her rear is covered. I have to admit, I think this cover's quite cute -- less gratuitous than a lot out there. Or maybe I'm just biased because I like her hair. **chuckle**
If it was manga, it would be totally gratuitous and acceptable all in one.
Boobs are a bit much but, eh, not gratuitous.
I am still on the fence about this one, so I can't call it gratuitous yet. I definitely appreciate Jenny's enjoyment of her hair- it worked for me too! :-)
I am leaving this as too close to call for now.
