Get In Shape: Week Five

Last night should have been when I posted this but I got caught up in bill paying and calling my cable internet provider, so here I am today! It is amazing to me how many folks in this town are closing their businesses this weekend or off doing something fun because of the President's Day holiday on Monday. As someone with a regular work schedule without the extra holidays, it is hard to get very excited. Mostly I get irritable because I am tired and have to work while so many people get to sleep in!

This week was a decent week in working out. My team and I got with a personal trainer on Thursday night (yes Valentine's Day) to get some new, harder stuff thrown into our workout. Mainly it comprised of doing stuff "off balance". For example, I would do my bicep curls, but on one leg. Yikes. We also worked on ab planks and other fun core stuff so it was hardcore. At least we are pretty sure it will help.

That being said, here is my tally for the week.

This week's weight loss: 2 lbs.

Total weight loss: 13 lbs.

Not bad, but a pound off my three pounds a week goal. Bummer!

On that note, I am going to go spend a couple of hours in the gym this afternoon and call it good. Have a great day!

One of the biggest problems with weighing yourself so often is the increased margin of error. When you're talking about small amounts of weight like one or two pounds, there are so many factors that contribute to erroneous readings. Water retention is the biggest monkey wrench.
What I'm saying is that you could very well have lost three or even four pounds, and you're just getting a phony reading from the scale. It's nothing to get discouraged over. Keep up the good work.

Eaglewing, I am trying to be hardcore. Heh!

My balance is just so-so, unfortunately, and I bit it once. I hope it doesn't end up on youTube!! LOL.

Johh, you speak true. I was thinking about that after you commented, and I have noticed a bit of fluctuation to be sure.

I think to be on the safe side I am going to try and weigh first thing in the morning before my nutrition and water intake make so many variables. God knows that I have gained up to five pounds after downing a lot of water during a workout.

Thank you for the tips. It made me rethink how I am going to do this. I am going to try and do a body comp in the next few days and see what that tells me.

Very good info!
