Selling Comics...

Jim and I have been considering selling large chunks of our collections. eBay fees are killer, so we are wondering where the best places are to try and move books. Do you have any ideas?

Also, does anyone do anything with Amazon? I had heard that they have a program. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I hope you had a good weekend. Take care!

I sold a big portion of mine to a local comic shop, if you do it that way, only do a couple boxes at a time though.

Yep, Nick's got an idea there, butttttttt, I hate to say it, my dealer usually only does like $20 bucks a long box. Unless you've got some killer books in there. I would say the more bang for your buck would be to look them over good and if you do another booth soon, put some of them out at what you want to sell them at. Really, at this time, a lot of people are cutting back...

I haven't done an eBay auction in awhile, but are the fees really that bad? Sure, it costs some money to sell them, but at least that way you won't get ripped off by a dealer wanting to pay as little as possible for them. That said, I've found it's generally better to sell comics in lots...priced to sell...but not ridiculously low. Most of the time, various dealers will snap them up.

I've had a lot of luck buying comics from Comic Book Collecter Live. It's like a virtual comic book show. Sellers create their own pages and the search engine makes comics easy to find for the buyers.

NIck, I think that is an awesome idea! The only problem is that my local dealer won't do it unless it is pretty much free, as Carl pointed out.

I am really bummed that it is a buyer's market. Aaaarrgghh!

Mark, Jim was telling me that the pricing structure and rules have changed in a way that is killer to sellers. The fees are ugly and Paypal is the only way to get money- there are fees there as well. It is such a disappointment. I was considering Craig's List...
