Picking up Comics and Sweating the Holidays

Today I went to my retailer to pick up books. He was all smiles as there were no problems at all. The entirety of his order came in and he was happily selling away. I showed him my proposed letter, and he prefers I hold off on the mass campaign until next time this happens, so I am very begrudgingly respecting his wishes. He was very touched that I wanted to help, but felt it would be best to wait until the other customers were hot under the collar to strike.

Hopefully it won't come to that.

I stand by my belief that it is a temporary fix and that by next week things will be back to the normal mess, so I am keeping the letters here on my desk to take in next week. Cross your fingers for the best, but know that I am prepared for the worst!

For a person done with their Christmas shopping, I have sure procrastinated on wrapping. I am very bad at it, and end up taping the crap out of each package. I have a hard time measuring the paper, and because I am left handed, I end up cutting the edges unevenly. It is a disaster. The worse news is that Jim claims to be worse at it then I am. Yikes.

I really need to wrap presents, but I am too tired. I am putting in heavy hours at work and have had a great deal of stress there that I can't share about. Things are set to improve, but I fear I will be working quite a bit in the interim. At least I know that I have four day weeks the next two. That will help a bunch.

Otherwise, life is good. The comics came in perfectly this week and I am done Christmas shopping. I have a few days left to wrap, and my cards are long done. It is just a matter of figuring out where to go on what days that is left, so I am very lucky.

Have a wonderful evening! I am off to go relax a bit, and hopefully get a good night's sleep before tomorrow.

I'm glad you were able to get your comics and I hope things really do work out.

Thank you! It was surreal to be able to walk in and have comics there and ready to be purchased. Yay!

Have a great day!

Every once in a while Diamond gets it right! Truthfully, I know they try, but this time of year especially, it seems like they're short handed and the quality of their work and timeliness suffers from late October through early January and then things seem to improve.

You'll have to ask your retailer if any of his books had powder on them. I'm SERIOUS! A bunch of stores including mine got mostly marvel books that were lightly coated in some kind of talcum powder.

My husband and I are left handed too, as are at least 20% of our customers - seems that lefties love comics!

Lisa, that is fascinating about the talcom powder. My hubby used to pull the books out of the boxes and sneeze. He would also complain of a weird texture. I bet that is what it is! That is crazy!

I am hoping that Diamond will be new and improved, but I am not holding my breath. I walked in this week ready for a dog fight, and will do the same each week. I just can't rest on my laurels. My poor retailer!! :-)

The holidays aren't helping UPS's services, I am sure. Hopefully it will improve after Christmas.

I am convinced that left handers are the only ones in their right minds! Heh heh! That is so cool that you and your husband are left handed as well. Normally I get a lot of crap for it, especially since I write upside down with a curve. Yikes.

Thank you again for all the great tips. It has helped me immeasurably, and given my retailer a great deal of hope.

Take care!
