Random Thoughts and Musings

Last night was my company Christmas party. It was an absolute joy, and it went way too quickly. My hubby and I were two of the only people not drinking, so at a certain point in the evening, it is definitely time to go, but we had a blast. I have a rule about not drinking and driving, and with the weather being bad, it is easier to not drink at all then to try and have a couple and function. Besides, I am a lightweight!

At any rate, we had a wonderful day today of eating out, visiting friends, and coming home to play on the computer. We are having way too much fun on ComicSpace, meeting people and reconnecting with old friends. It is definitely addicting, and I am trying to have self control to not look at it during work hours!

Over at Seven Hells!, Devon has a great entry about Blackhawk and an imaginary conversation with his creators that left me rolling. Go check it out!

At Sequentially Speaking, Lisa makes a great point about the dirth of Civil War related titles coming out next week. If I was getting the entire saga, I would be furious that seven books are coming out at once. Why Marvel can't spread it out is beyond me. Last month my retailer had the same problem.

Over at Polite Dissent, Dr. Scott is presenting a really fun advent calendar of sorts- a chance to see some old school Christmas-themed covers and hear his thoughts. I am loving this!

The always amazing Loren at One Diverse Comic Book Nation takes a look at "When Fanboys Attack with his eminently logical view of all things comic book. Loren gets it.

New friend Amanda over at Lit(erature) Chick does a great review of Blood Diamond. It really makes me want to go see the movie!

Poor Laura is not able to stay at her house because of the horrific wind storm that hit the Northwest a couple of nights ago. My parents are in a similar situation, and I am praying for their safety and the ability to return to their homes soon. Go check out Laura's updates at Bloggity-Blog-Blog-Blog for details.

Does anyone know where my friend Pamela's blog Comic Book Wife has gone? Is she alright? If anyone knows, let me know. I am very concerned!

That is it for the evening! I am going to go try and talk my husband into watching one of the Netflix we have had sitting around for the last month without watching. We are obviously missing the point of it by keeping DVD's for over a month.

Take care! Have a wonderful evening!

I'm enjoying ComicSpace, but I have yet to figure out what to really do with it! I guess I'm not too familiar with the MySpace way of doing things. And it was giving me problems today loading pages, probably due to its growing popularity.

Shelly- I was having problems with it being slow for awhile yesterday as well. I can imagine with the number of people joining it is quite challenging to keep things going on the technical side.

I think that when they add some features, it will make it more interesting, but for now it is the networking that is the focus.

I never did a MySpace page, because I was worried about who would be there and what the deal was, so ComicSpace is a welcome relief.

I am glad you are there with me!

Loren: No, you are the best! :-)

I appreciate what you say about ComicSpace. It is nice to know why people are there. It makes it feel more secure and relaxed. As they add more features, it will change a bit, but we can feel secure in the fact that the people there are for the most part there for the fellowship and networking. I love that!

Take care!

I'm sure you're right, Heidi. I just haven't quite figured out HOW to network there yet. When I have time, I guess I'll visit all my friends and maybe leave some comments. It'll be nice to search by tag. We can't do that yet, right? I'm such a newbie when it comes to sites like that. ;)

Shelly- ComicSpace is definitely evolving. I have used it to make new contacts and to reconnect with old friends. I have been leaving comments like crazy to the people I want to talk to. It has been wonderful! Now if I can just keep up in my correspondence... then we will be good.

I think you are right that as new features are added, we will have more to do. I am glad you and I are in it together- maybe if things get too complicated you can help me navigate through!!

It would be great if the conversations had feeds or worked with coComment so we could track them. I haven't seen anything like that, tho I did get an email when someone left me a comment.

Shelly- that is what I was hoping for as well. Better tracking of the comments would be helpful. I turned on my option to get e-mails when I have comments so I don't miss somebody. It is hard to get back to all their spaces though to be sure.. that is the big problem, huh?

Take care!
