According to Rich Johnston's Lying in the Gutters column, the new writer on Wonder Woman after Allan Heinberg's run will be best selling author Jodi Picoult. Her latest book The Tenth Circle debuted at number 2 on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
I haven't read any of her stuff, but tonight after work I am going to Borders in search of a soft cover "anything" by her to get a taste.
It is interesting that a woman who is my peer in age will be taking over the book. It is an exciting moment, and one I fully endorse.
Have any of you read her stuff? What is it like? I am really psyched to find our more about her work.

Picoult is very popular here at the library. I read "My sister's keeper" and found it a good and current read. That's her trademark- the dramatic twist on very current things like parental kidnapping, organ donation. Sort of a 'ripped from the headlines' female author. Hard to see her on a comic, but more female creators need their dang shot!
It won't matter and may just be a waste of seven bucks if it's just to get a sort of preview of her comics project.
I read Brad Meltzer's First Counsel and skimmed some of his other prose works.
From them I can see where he gets his rep as an author. From Identity Crisis... I think Identity Crisis is crap from plot to script. If we only go by his comicstuff evidence points to a personal relationship between writers rather professional respect.
If we really want to know how this lady writes comics then we gotta wait. I wouldn't let good impressions from prose give me good expectations for comics... ever again.
Redlib- that is interesting to hear. I appreciate the heads up since I was not at all familiar with her stuff other then vaguely knowing her name.
I went and picked up "Salem Falls" to check it out. I hope it resonates. I will be back with an opinion!!
Thank you for letting me know about her work!
Chris- I understand where you are coming from on this. I actually did the same with Meltzer's stuff, but I ended up liking it. "The Tenth Justice" was what I read. If you didn't like Identity Crisis though, you definitely are not going to appreciate his novelizations.
I am not familiar with Picoult's stuff, but am a pretty fast reader with a day off tomorrow, so I figured I would give it a try. I actually got lucky when I walked into the bookstore tonight. A friend that works there had a copy that was used and got me a deal. Lucky me!
I have no idea what to expect until she writes the comic. This much is true. I think it would be very interesting to get a read on her style and on her topics, to get a feel for it.
It is like with Greg Rucka- I read his comics first and then got his books and ended up being really happy with them. I know it isn't always that way with "crossovers", but in his case, I definitely enjoyed his long work.
Next up is Ed Brubaker and Neil Gaiman's books. That will be another leap!
