Today was a good day at the comic book shop. Our retailer got all their boxes in on time and were very pleased to be able to get caught up with last week's stuff. Customers were happy in general about having a "complete" shipment hit.
The negative was the books that didn't make it. Even more then Civil War, customers wanted to know where Red Sonja #18 was. The book is a strong seller for our retailer and there were definitely some disapointed fanboys. Only one copy of Civil War shipped with the order and it was the variant Michael Turner cover so everybody has to wait for next week. The good news was that there wasn't a great deal of grumbling about it.
We passed on the information from Lisa's blog, and our retailer was really pleased. He is planning to contact the West Coast manager today and see what he can do. Thank you Lisa! (BTW, if you haven't been over to Sequentially Speaking, go take a gander. She has an awesome weekly post about late comics and a great deal of insight as well.)
At any rate, the consensus at the local shop was that having a full shipment was better then none. For the most part, fans were thrilled to get last week's swag and get caught up. Red Sonja was the "bummer of the week" due to it's lack of presence.
How did it go for all of you? Any West coasters with any reports?
Have a great evening!

I live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and we didn't get many books at all today. The only new one I picked up was "52", with All-Star Superman and Superman scheduled to arrive tomorrow (supposedly). Very frustrating.
Oh, incidentally, my shop also had a generous stack of Civil War #6, making its scarcity on the West Coast a real mystery to me.
Between tardy creative teams delaying books and Diamond's constellation of problems, it's getting old, isn't it?
Really old.
Glad your retailer got the books that he didn't last week. Hopefully contacting the L.A. warehouse manager will help with the situation! I think that now that the holiday rush is over things will improve with Diamond.
Mark, thank you for sharing that with me. It is fascinating that your shop got plenty of Civil Wars. I am glad to hear you were able to pick up the Superman books though. Excellent taste.
Diamond is getting old for sure. I may have to give myself a one week rule of not being allowed to talk about them before I drive myself even crazier!
Thank you again for checking in.
Lisa, my retailer really appreciated the information. I showed him your blog entry and he was very appreciative.
Thank you so much for being so encouraging!
