Random Thoughts and Musings

After being a non-presence on the internet, it just came to my attention via The Beat that Joss Whedon is off the Wonder Woman movie. This is nothing but a relief to me. Not that I am hating on Whedon, but that I just have no desire to see some Hollywood bimbette try and recreate the greatness that was Lynda Carter on the television show. Wonder Woman is a sacred character to me, and I know it will make me lose my mind if Lindsey Lohan or one of her ilk shows up starring in the film.

The only way I can take a Wonder Woman film is if there is an unknown cast that looks and acts like the Amazon Princess. It worked for Lynda Carter, and her legacy endures to this day. God knows how many men she put through puberty and how many little girls she inspired.

If a Wonder Woman movie never sees the light of day it is fine with me. I would rather go without then see her sullied by the Hollywood movie machine.

Emerald City Comicon has it's hotel information up now. I checked out all my options and went for one not on the list. I booked our reservations at the same hotel we stayed at last year, and am hoping it was the right decision.

I am having a booth there and am really excited about it. It is all about my blog, so that is something different then what everyone else is doing. The only problem is when people come up to the booth and ask what I produce. I am reduced to saying "a daily blog about comic book events and series" and look blankly. Sigh. I really have got to get an angle there.

Are any of you fellow bloggers attending the ECCC? If so, e-mail me and maybe we can have an afternoon get together on Saturday or Sunday. I would love to meet you and hang out.

I am obsessing on the Papa Roach song "Forever" and the rock ballad "It's Not Over" by Daughtry. "Walk" by Pantera also has an almost permanent spot on chronic rotation on my iPod. I think my co-workers are a bit scared, and my husband just shakes his head, but rock is my thing right now. It's got to be the workouts... or maybe it could be I've always been a rocker but can't bother hiding it anymore.

Being a rocker can be a bit like being a comic book reader. It is easy to stay in the closet, but it feels a lot better to be out there, loud and proud. I just can't pretend anymore.

That is it for tonight. I am going to go collapse now. I haven't took a day off working out all week and I am exhausted and sore. On the agenda is some reading and VH1's Classic Channel "Metal Mania" later on. Heh.

Hope you have a great time at the con. I was kind of looking forward to his version of Wonder Woman, but I have to admit to wondering how he was going to do it. I think (and I'm terrible with names so I don't remember hers) the female from his tv show Serenity would have made a great Wonder Woman. But I do have to wonder about his version, since his shows tends to be very pop referenced and I can't see Wonder Woman going that route.

Welp, according to what I have read, it's two new guys that no one has ever heard of before. Sssssssoooooooo, that means Wonder Woman could come out, if it's made, according these guys, with no track record. If it gets made. I am a big Whedon fan and felt like I could trust him not to let the fans down. He understands comics and has had references to them in all his works (outside of Firefly/Serenity- since that's 500 years from now) and of course wrote more then a few. I would have to say now my interest in the new Wonder Woman went from very interested and definitely seeing it opening day, taking my family and more, to zip, zero, nada.

And on the con front, I took my daughter Sammie to her first grown-up con, FX Con, last weekend. We had a blast and she got to meet a lot of folks I knew she would want to see. And then we all got sick from a horrible stomach bug, me being the last to get it. And I am also a bit depressed since it looks like unless there is divine intervention, I am missing my first Megacon since the '90s. I hope you will have a good time at yours and make up for mine. Butttttt, then again, I did chose to attend FX with my girl and while I will miss being with my friends at Megacon, many years they have been a huge pain-in-the-buttocks. One day I should write this all down.
Anyway, I'm back, almost on the complete mend and hope things are going well...

John, I am still relieved at Whedon's WW falling through, but am a bit nervous, because God knows how a new team might do things.

Crap. They're not going to make it until that Lindsey Lohan is on it, are they? I have just jinxed things.

Carl, I am really glad to hear that you are feeling better. I am also happy to hear that you got to take your daughter to a show. That sounds wonderful! Sorry about being sick though. :-(

As for the WW movie, I am sure I have jinxed it, so I am now going to go hide under my blanket.
