Last year at Emerald City Comicon, the hubby and I had the booth next to Shon Bury and Joe St. Pierre. We were lucky enough to strike up a conversation over the two days and have dinner Saturday night. Needless to say, we have been very excited about the projects that Shon and Joe have in the hopper, and it is a distinct pleasure to bring you a press release with the great news that Nox is back. Read on for details!

SHON C. BURY’S NOX LANDS @ APA

Fort Smith, AR – January 9, 2007 – Imagine a world equally populated by mystical gurus, urban hipsters, and dark forces bent on tipping our drab, mundane world into shadows. That work is writer/creator Shon C. Bury’s Nox—an original graphic novel hitting shelves this June from upstart comic-book publisher Atomic Pop Art Entertainment. Originally formatted as a five-issue mini series that mapped the mythical Hero Cycle onto a modern world, the book will now be released as one complete graphic novel. “It’s a very self-aware study of the Hero Cylce; a low fantasy generously peppered with Everyman situations and what I like to refer to as comedy,” Shon says.

“It’s been an absolute joy working with the Nox creative team on my first OGN,” Shon says. “Nox was absolutely a product of a lifetime of reading and studying both comics and mythology—and my desire to combine the two. I always envisioned Joey and Bobby’s adventures as one, continues story...so I’m very thankful APA gave me the opportunity to bring my toys over to their very cool sandbox.”

Initially scheduled to be published in 2006, it was decided to remove Nox from the market when small-press newcomer, Narwain, mishandled their entry into the industry. Regardless, Nox garnered repeated critical acclaim throughout the industry and was named Comic Geek Speak’s Indy Challenge Winner in March of that year. Newsarama’s Troy Brownfield claimed Nox was “...an energetic book that turns your typical kid on a quest scenario on its head” while That’s Entertainment gave the book 10 out of 5 stars.

hey Heidi!
Shon and Joe will be sharing a condo with us this year at Emerald City. Hope we will be able to see you and jim there. Kirk got really geeked when he read your ipod workout play list. He rarely finds a girl who likes the tunes he does.

Hey there! I was wondering what you have been doing! We are excited to here that you and Kirk will be at Emerald City! I am thrilled that you will be having a condo with Joe and Shon. You will have so much fun!

We will definitely see you there. We have a booth again and I am really looking forward to catching up!

Tell Kirk I am most definitely a metal girl. I have been since the early 1980's when Randy Rhoads was still around. :-) I will bring my iPod to Emerald City and we can compare notes.

Yay! It is so good to hear from you!
