Holy Crap! Carl! Check This Out!

Civil War #5 Variant
Originally uploaded by Heidi Meeley.
I just found this gem of a variant cover for Civil War #5 on Newsarama. It looks like the Punisher is getting involved in a major way.

The Marvel press release reads as follows:

"Michael Turner’s Variant for Civil War #5 has been revealed as the next issue of Civil War gets closer and closer.

Civil War #5 is fast approaching and is on track for its on-sale date of November 15th, when the comic world is sure to be rocked by the next important chapter in this universe-changing event.

The Punisher enters the war in Civil War #5, but whose side is Frank Castle on? Is he even on anybody’s side? The Punisher always works alone, but will a war among super-heroes cause him to rethink his position as the lone wolf?

Plus, the villains of the Marvel Universe make their presence known and change the balance of power in the war. But who or what are they targeting?"

Dang! Carl, what do you think, Buddy?

What about the rest of you comic fans out there?

I have to admit, seeing this makes me want to go buy the next issue, if for no other reason then to watch Frank Castle kick some serious butt.

Just as I was almost out... they pull me back in!

Welp, this is what I was waiting for and it looks like The Punisher has found a can-opener for "Iron Spider-Man's" new costume (which I hated of course). Hmmmmm, which leads to the question, since Peter Parker outed himself, wonder how hard it was for Castle to find him? And will I be able to get the variant for less then $20 to $30 dollars at my shop? I bet I won't since the "Thor" and previous variants have run from $15 to $30 or more.
Pretty much my final thought until I actually see the book is:

"LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLLLLLLOOOOOORRRRRR!!!"

Oh, just as I was about to get offline, I thought of a title for this great cover:

"Where's your Spider God now punk?"

Carl- I saw this on Newsarama, and I yelled to Jim to come in the room! I said "I have got to show this to Carl!". :-)

I hope the cover isn't just hype; to see a throwdown betweeen Iron Spidey and Frank Castle would be just the palette cleanser I have been needing.

We are crossing our fingers that the variant isn't too rare or too expensive. It would only be total justice if you had a copy.

I love the song lyrics- having Punisher in the mix gives me hope. Maybe he could take out clone Thor while he is at it.

BTW, Jim and I laughed our butts off at your line:

"Where's your Spider God now punk?"

You rule!

Yeah, I posted it at myspace, probably should have gave you credit for it, d'oh! But I was so buzzed and wanted to put in the Civil War Marvel Zombies faces post-haste!
So far, I've gotten back, a couple of comments, one bizarre one stating Turner's Punisher looked like a teddy bear to them and another, apparently unware that Spidey and The Punisher are not friends, duuuuuuuuuuhhhh. My dealer Scott has been silent but he might already be out of town for Screamfest in Orlando (which I am going to tomorrow). Me? Like the MickyD's commercials say:

I'M LOVIN' IT!!!

Carl, how has the response been the rest of the day? I am glad you are having fun with it- that was pretty much the intention!

Have a great evening!

Welp, a few more commented about it, they are diggin' it too! I am headed off to Screamfest '06 tomorrow. I kept wavering on going since my family and I hopefully are on the end of bad colds. And I hadn't got a lot of hours at my new job for a bit but I got two paychecks cashed today and that helps a lot.
I can't wait to see Scott tomorrow at the con and see if he heard about this. He has been so pro-Civil War and Marvel doing *anything* for sales, I call him sometimes "The Marvel Pimpbot 5000"...
Pictures and such after the con, hope you guys have a good one at yours, boobye for now!

Carl, have a wonderful time! Let me know how it goes.

Jim and I are going to have a long day tomorrow, going to Seattle and back, but it will be worth it to check it out.

Take care!

I think the concept is outdated and a rerun, the execution is poor, and every new issue newly released (as opposed to newly recalled and newly burned) merely excberates the problem.

exacerbates.

Can someone help me spell?

I'm Lois Lane here...

Chris- okay, you're Lois Lane!

Heh.

Civil War has definitely caused a fierce division in Marvel fans at this point. Either you love it or hate it. As the series nears it's close, it will be interesting to see how things play out.
